chickenhead

/ /ˈtʃɪkɪnˌhɛd/ /CHIK-in-hed
noun · Northeast / Memphis · 1990s
Verified
1.
A disparaging term for a woman cast as promiscuous or empty-headed; the image is the bobbing of a chicken's head, rooted in older Black slang for performing oral sex. An insult in nearly every use, and long contested by Black women as one.
He called her a chickenhead and got put out the cookout — that word don't slide at family functions.
Origin & Attribution
From Black sexual slang, surfacing in Northeast hip hop by the mid-1990s — Redman's Muddy Waters (1996) put it on a major release — and rolled South when Project Pat and Three 6 Mafia's 'Chickenhead' (2000) made it a Memphis call-and-response hit. Documented here as used: a term of disrespect, with its meaning written out plainly.
