A man who is excessively, self-abasingly devoted to a woman — doing too much, giving too much, expecting little back. From simpleton.
He bought her a car after two dates, straight simp.
Origin & Attribution
West Coast rap of the 1980s and 1990s, where artists like Too Short and E-40 used it as the opposite of a pimp — Too Short's "Simpin Ain't Easy" dates to 1987, and Three 6 Mafia used it in 1999. It sat in Black vernacular for three decades before a 2019 TikTok trend rebranded it as new internet slang.
